Counselling & Therapy at MyMental
At MyMental, counselling offers a calm, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
Our role is not to tell you what to do or offer quick solutions. Instead, your counsellor will walk alongside you as you develop deeper self-understanding, self-acceptance and clarity.
We respect your individuality, and sessions are shaped around what feels important to you, always recognising your lived experience, values and perspective.
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain or simply need somewhere to talk openly, counselling can offer a steady and compassionate place to begin.

Our Counselling Approach
We offer person-centred, integrative, psychodynamic and CBT-informed counselling. Person-centred values remain at the core of MyMental, providing a warm, non-judgemental environment where you can explore whatever feels most important to you.
Each counsellor works according to their qualifications, experience and individual therapeutic approach. We will consider your needs and preferences when finding the most suitable match for you.
In counselling, we focus on:
- Building a genuine and empathetic therapeutic relationship
- Creating a confidential and supportive space where you feel heard
- Supporting self-reflection and emotional awareness
- Encouraging self-acceptance and personal growth
- Exploring experiences and emotions without judgement
Counselling at MyMental is not about being βfixedβ. It is about being supported as you make sense of your experiences and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
What Can Counselling Help With?
We offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on your needs and the type of service you access.
People may come to counselling for support with:
- Anxiety, worry or ongoing stress
- Low mood or changes in emotional wellbeing
- Relationship or family difficulties
- Work-related stress and burnout
- Life changes and transitions
- Bereavement, loss or separation
- Low self-esteem or confidence
- Loneliness or isolation
- Difficult past experiences
- Emotional overwhelm or feeling stuck
- Personal growth and greater self-understanding
You do not need to be in crisis to seek counselling. Many people come simply because they want a confidential space to talk, reflect and understand themselves more deeply.
Confidentiality and Suitability
Counselling sessions are confidential, although there are some circumstances in which information may need to be shared because of a serious safeguarding concern or legal requirement. Your counsellor will explain confidentiality and its limits before counselling begins.
An initial conversation also helps us understand what you are looking for and whether the counsellor or service can safely and appropriately support your needs.
MyMentalβs counselling service is not an emergency or crisis service.
Counselling, Therapy & Other Support at MyMental
We use the terms counselling and therapy to describe our one-to-one emotional support. Your practitioner will explain their professional role, qualifications and approach before your sessions begin.
Alongside individual counselling, MyMental also offers:
- Affordable counselling for students studying any subject
- Workplace wellbeing support
- Employee Assistance Programme services
- Self-help resources and practical wellbeing tools
You can explore our mental health services to find the type of support that feels right for you.
