Trainee Counselling & Psychotherapy Placements
Are you a trainee counsellor or psychotherapist looking for an opportunity to develop your practical skills and gain supervised client experience?
MyMental Ltd welcomes applications from students undertaking recognised counselling and psychotherapy training programmes who are ready to begin or continue their clinical placement hours.
As part of our commitment to making mental health support more accessible, we provide counselling opportunities for adults who may otherwise face barriers to accessing therapeutic support.
Placement Opportunities
We currently welcome applications for:
Online Placements
- Remote counselling with suitable UK-based adult clients.
- Opportunities to build experience in an online therapeutic setting.
- Client allocations based on suitability, availability and training requirements.
In-Person Placements
- Based at our Barking, East London location.
- Opportunities for trainees who need face-to-face client hours as part of their qualification.
All placements are subject to successful onboarding, client availability and relevant placement requirements.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from students who:
- Are undertaking a recognised Level 4 counselling diploma or higher counselling or psychotherapy training.
- Have been assessed by their training provider as ready to begin client work.
- Hold appropriate student membership with a recognised professional body, where required.
- Can provide evidence of their training and placement requirements.
- Are committed to ethical practice, professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding.
- Can undertake regular clinical supervision.
Applicants on other relevant training pathways may also be considered individually.
Supervision and Professional Development
Regular clinical supervision is an essential requirement of all placements.
MyMental can help arrange individual or group supervision through our approved supervisors, subject to availability and the requirements of your training provider.
Please note that supervision is paid for by the trainee. Supervision fees and available arrangements will be outlined in our initial response to your enquiry, allowing you to make an informed decision before proceeding.
Supervision and Professional Development
Regular clinical supervision is an essential requirement of all placements.
MyMental can help arrange individual or group supervision through our approved supervisors, subject to availability and the requirements of your training provider.

- Your current CV.
- Your training provider and qualification title.
- Your current stage of training.
- Your placement requirements, including the number and type of client hours needed.
- Whether you are interested in online, in-person or both placement options.
- Whether you require individual or group supervision.
Suitable applicants will be invited to complete an application form. Following a review of their submission, shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview as part of our placement assessment process.
